Wood Species & Movement

Exotic hardwoods are generally more porous than domestic species like Maple and therefore require regular care to build and maintain water resistance. This applies to all wood species, but is especially important for Wenge, which can become sharp if not properly maintained.

Because our boards are made from natural hardwood, they may expand, contract, or change slightly over time in response to humidity, heat, or exposure to water. These changes are normal and part of the life of a solid wood piece.
Regular care with our Shine & Shield Wood Balm and following our Care & Maintenance guide helps minimize these effects and preserves the board’s longevity.

Artistic Wood Selection & Use

Our Luxury Series and Controlled Chaos End Grain Series feature exotic hardwoods, carefully selected to create distinctive artistic designs. The unique patterns and visual contrasts of each board make them exceptional and elegant pieces, perfect for enhancing any kitchen or dining experience.

Visually striking, these boards are often used as show, display, or serving pieces, yet they are also suitable for everyday home use. They are designed primarily for home kitchens, rather than heavy-duty commercial applications.

For heavier use, our Classic Series boards are crafted for durability and everyday performance.

Disclaimer - Wood Allergies

Some of our pieces feature exotic hardwoods such as Padauk, Wenge, and Purpleheart. There is a very small chance that some individuals may experience minor irritation when in contact with these species. Similar sensitivities can also occur with many domestic woods. This usually occurs when exposed to fine wood dust, and is very rare with finished products.
